Flower products will be competing in three categories: indica, sativa, and hybrid, along with infused and non-infused pre-rolls. For concentrate enthusiasts, both solvent and non-solvent offerings will be judged, as well as edibles, vape pens, sublinguals, capsules, and tinctures. When judging flower and other products, factors such as aesthetics/visual appeal, aroma/scent, taste/flavor profile, burnability, effects/effectiveness, and terpene profile will be taken into account.
Last year, the High Times Cannabis Cup Illinois: People’s Choice Edition produced some notable winners. The Fig Farms Figment (Purple Fig x Animal Mints 199 #4) took home first place in the sativa flower category, with its unique lavender and confetti cake taste. Meanwhile, RYTHM Brownie Scout (Platinum Girl Scout Cookies x Kosher Kush) secured first place in the indica flower category for its intense initial surge followed by an exultant indica trance.
Noteworthy concentrate winners included Gorilla’d Cheese Rosin (GG#4 x Clementine) by Revolution Cannabis. Judges were impressed by its cheesy, earthy flavor enhanced by Limonene, Beta-Caryophyllene, Beta-Myrcene, Linalool, and Elemene.
Competition product submissions will be accepted from August 7-11 across various locations in Illinois. Judge Kits will be available on August 19 at designated intake partners, including RISE Dispensary, nuEra, and Zen Leaf locations. Judges can access the Judging Portal to start evaluating the entries. The judging deadline is October 22, and the winners will be announced through a digital Awards Show on November 5.
