- Chocolate bar of your choice
- Large pot
- Raw cocoa
- Glass/metal bowl
- Mixing spoon
- Coffee grinder or sharpen knife
- Chocolate molds or a non-stick baking tray
- Candy thermometer (optional)
Preparing your magic mushroom chocolate step by step
- Before we get started, we must check that our magic mushrooms are completely dry. Then, we’ll grind them or chop them into small chunks with the coffee grinder or a sharp knife.
- Break the chocolate into pieces and place in a glass/metal bowl.
- To melt the chocolate, bring the pot to boil on low heat and place the bowl on it with a 2 cm (0.78 in) separation. In this way, while the water is boiling, we heat the chocolate while stirring till it’s well melted. Another way is to melt the chocolate in the microwave at 30-second intervals as it may get burnt.
- Once it’s melted, let it cool for a minute. If you are using a thermometer, check that the temperature is lower than 70 ºC (158 ºF).
- When the chocolate is cold, but liquid, add the chopped mushrooms. You can also add some raw cocoa powder if you want. Mix again.
- Now, pour the mix into the molds and put them in the fridge.
- In a few hours, when the chocolate is cold and solidified, it’s ready to use.
Chocolate dosage
Measuring the amount of mushrooms that we are going to consume with the chocolate is quite easy. Simply add to each serving the equivalent of a normal dosage, depending on each user’s tolerance. This way, we’ll use a portion of chocolate per serving. However, it may be hard to distribute the mushrooms, that’s why it’s recommended to try first the dosage to confirm that the portions have the desired amount of mushrooms.
How to store your magic mushroom chocolate
To make the chocolate last longer, we have to hermetically seal it and keep it in a cool, dark place. This way, the psychoactive properties could last a year, but it will always depend on the chocolate choice. As chocolate doesn’t spoil, it isn’t harmful, but it could have a funny taste.
